Brief 11 – Profile
Brief 11 – Profile
A personal endeavor; create a series of cartoon character
illustrations.
I was disappointed with the progress I made with this brief, although I
didn’t cut it short and not make content, I’ve included it because I did create
work. Just not to the extent that I was hoping to. Which was to have a few
series characters featured, and due to the set backs of having other briefs and
been frustrated because of lack of development.
This will be something I do spend time on outside of university, but not
until I find a way to problem solve how to make other characters fit in with
the style of the others.

Profile - Logo
I was imagining the series as a exhibition, I though if that was to happen it'd need a logo, I used the outlines of the faces to make a quick logotype to label the faces. I think I'd like to possibility expand this and make a proper typeface out of it. It's got very well proportioned on the curves.

Profile: 23rd March Progress
I've struggled with trying to get the joker to fit in with the rest of the series. I don't know if it's just me being hung up on making him look like the previous characters or if he should be like he is and stand out from the rest. The problem I have with the joker is getting his chin and nose to work with the grid of the other characters.
okay.
Unlike batman who is more geometrically shaped fits a lot better with the rest and rightly so when the major features of him are his horns, chin, eyes and nose which are all very angular. However, the joker is more curvy in his features. Although the Futurama character have very circular features, it's the in-between which is hard.
I feel like this brief has being stunted, characters from
the Simpsons fit into it, however this is something that
will be expanded upon when I have more free time to
focus on something more personal such as this.
This will come with developments to create a grid that
will apply to more than just geometric characters so not
limit my self. However, I have other briefs to get on with for the time been which are more important and productive.

Profile - Initial Development
Leah can be broken down into a few basic shapes which make her very easy to create. They're all very geometric without much shape and this allowed me to easy construct her from shapes.
I wanted to keep the features to a minimum, sticking with only anything that makes them distinguishable. (I.E: eyelashes that are exaggerated.)
Bender again was very simple to create, however, I really wanted to get his personality across which is hard with a few shapes. I liked how in illustrations of him the use of the eyes was very important in establishing the emotion in Bender. I tried this to my advantage, it worked really well. These illustrations would be very charming to have animated.
Fry Followed a similar shape as Leah, so it was just adding in his features to match. I hope this makes creating other characters just as simple.
These are a collage of characters I would like to make later on, mostly cartoon characters, I would like to however expand it to feature famous cult characters which come in trio's such as the good bad and the ugly and Sam, Frodo and Gollum. They're famous for being together and I think it'd be a good way to display them instead of been singular.
