This blog post is for the Intern Magazine Workshop with Alec Dudson
We got to choose what groups we were in, I went with Anthony, Grace, Sophie and Laura. I hadn't worked with any before and I was really interested to see how this would go. I was feeling really positive about it however.
Alec gave us a sheet. We had to come up with an idea for a zine/ indie magazine, using Alec's sheet to success. What we came up with was a monthly Children's short story books to help teach them about various different subjects each month, through the use of puzzles, rhymes and stories.
For the magazine's name we made spider diagram to come to a solution, using words that are great to roll of the tongue along with words that sound fitting.
The word we decided on was Lightbulb, the connection between it and ideas made to much sense and it sounds great as a word. It's family friendly.
For each month we want to have a different theme featured, so as a proposal for the presentation, we came up with a list of different themes that would possibly interest our audience. Space was going to be the very first issue due to it's relevancy to the current happenings with the satellite landing on the asteroid and the Mars Rover robot.
The visuals created for this brief came from a artist off Nobrow, we wanted to go with this look because although it's also child friendly it should be also something that adults should could enjoy when reading or exploring the magazine with their child.

Anthony created the double page spread mock up for the presentation and created the one below – we all worked really well as a team and I'm really happy with the outcome that we had. It was a great honour to have Alec Dudson enjoy the proposal that we had created for the magazine. I think he may have like ours the most. Maybe.
