Yorkshire Tea Mock_Up

Using the existing design, which we need to develop, we created a mock-up of the box to get feedback on. This was tasked to Ant white I was on placement.

I absolutely love the red rim around the box, in a shelf it would really stand out, especially if the top of the design is stacked with other boxes, it'll create a line on the store shelf. It'd be interesting to see how this would look.

I think this is the way forward, It's a strong design, however we just need to develop the photography to fit in more and work on the box art work.

Capital North: 28th Feb

The environments we choose to display the brand where all picked to further the concept of motion and the future.  As well as that, each piece was picked to be an interaction with transport, coming out of the train station, and out into the city the branding follows you.

The train was the focus to this brief, it was one of the first outcomes we worked on. This was were I came in to my element on this brief, creating mock-ups due to the rest of the team not being so savvy in Photoshop. So most of the mock-ups for this done by me, apart from the uniform featured here.

The concept behind the train’s design was so that each city had a train with it’s own colours represented at the train station when they’re all in their platforms.

I designed the colour schemes for each city; I tried to represent them through the most neutralized way possible. Having no politics involved so to unite them without drawing attention to unnecessary noise such as the football teams the cities are famous for. The gradients where added in a futuristic aspect while still remaining timeless so not to appear dated ten years down the line. Keeping it simple.

Capital North - Applicaton, Visual and Inspiration

I collected a selection of images that I thought would be great inspiration for the following:

  • Graphic application
  • Colour swatch
  • Logo concepts
These where the key areas we wanted to research into, we wanted something that was eye catching and clever but still reinforced the core concept of unity.

These two logos are great uses of negative spaces for a cause, especially the save water logo. It's clever and the concept doesn't need any extra thought it's getting across immediately what it's about. However I don't know why they use the letter A when it's called save water.

We had the idea that the logo should use negative space to try and include elements such as an arrow to point north or convey a concept relating to the logo. These examples are beautiful uses of negative space.

Excellent colour combinations, I love the vibrant and eye catching, something like this would be perfect for Capital North. It needs to be without any links to the cities, but representative still.

The London 2012 Olympic is a well-designed example of the application of graphics, such as on a taxi and plane. Places, which would have the most interaction as well as places, which add little details. The mix between the both is a great balance and what we aim to achieve with Capital North.

BRIEF 1: Anona Culture & Lifestyle Photography

Using photography online, I wanted to try and recreate what I feel Anona is and how it fits in the world through establishing the surrounding culture and lifestyle associated with an Italian bakery located in England – a bakery recreating the paste no less.

Capital North development

We wanted to develop the logo to show the motion between the two letters, however it was difficult to connect them together.

The logo was a collaborative effort between Grace and I, we wanted to communicate motion through the link between the two characters to represent the train line. The chevron was an addition to further reinforce this connection, as well as the connection between the cities that the HS3 line will bring.
